I’m sharing my story with you today so you can understand why I founded Emergency Therapy. It’s not easy to talk about my history, but I do it to give you the strength and courage to know that you can overcome anything with the right professional help. That’s what we offer here at Emergency Therapy.
My parents divorced when I was two years old. I was kidnapped at the age of three. Once I was returned to my mom, I always felt insecure and not ‘good enough’. To cover this up, I put huge amounts of pressure on myself to accomplish goals most children never do. By age six, I was running a baseball card business. By age eleven, I met nearly every major league baseball player. By fourteen, I was invited into the Oval Office at The White House to meet President Clinton, after collecting autographs from The Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa, Princess Diana, Margaret Thatcher, Audrey Hepburn, Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor, Paul McCartney, and nearly 3,000 famous people. At age 15, I wrote a published book and appeared on nearly every media outlet.
Despite all my success and attention, I felt horrible inside-- like a loser. I didn’t respect myself and I was mean to other people. When the issues of my childhood came to a head in my teens, I became manic and didn’t’ sleep for days at a time. I became so out of touch with reality that I went to The New York Public Library attempting to be the first human to fly without an airplane. I was quickly hospitalized and medicated. The doctors diagnosed me as bipolar. I was delusional and paranoid.
It took four hospitalizations and several therapists and psychiatrists to help me find a medicine and therapist to control my symptoms. It took several years of therapy to heal from these wounds, but it completely changed me as a human being. I learned to enjoy life and to understand that, to succeed, I would need to take small steps.
For many years now, I have been healthy, despite doctors saying I would never drive a car, go to college, get married or live any type of normal life. I graduated college, obtained a masters degree from Adelphi University, have become a licensed social worker and psychotherapist, found an amazing wife to whom I proposed (live on The Dr. Phil Show!), have written a published parenting book, worked helping the homeless of New York City and children in foster care, have a booming private practice, have spoken to large organizations including The Salvation Army and Eli Lilly, made a documentary and, most importantly… helped hundreds of people overcome their problems.
I believe God let me live through these experiences so I could help others to overcome their own adversities. Emergency Therapy was founded to provide affordable, immediate therapy with the most experienced licensed social workers and psychologists. I have personally chosen each of these amazing individuals for their strong credentials, as well as their interest in and ability to help others.
Register for membership right now and receive your very own telephone or email therapy, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
I know people have problems at all hours of the day and night. In fact, sometimes going to the hospital is the only option. Of course, if you are suicidal or homicidal, go to your nearest hospital immediately. For many, however, just having someone experienced, trained and caring to talk to…someone who won’t judge you…someone who understands…is all that is needed to really help you feel better.
Thank you for visiting Emergency Therapy today and taking the time to find out how you can help yourself by reaching out to others who care, who understand, and who want to help you improve your life.
God Bless You,
Blake LeVine, LMSW
